Empty Bowls from Watauga Elementary School

Mary’s Lunchbox, a backpack ministry in Meadowview, Virginia, has a soup dinner fundraiser every spring. People in the community come to this event so they can enjoy a bowl of soup by purchasing ceramic bowls made by students and artists. All the proceeds from the ceramic bowls go to Mary’s Lunchbox organization. The money is used to purchase non-perishable food for students in need. The food is discreetly placed in children’s book bags for them to take home on the weekends. Watauga Elementary second grade students were given the opportunity to get involved with the charity with the help of Watauga’s student art teacher, Autumn Roe. Students created ceramic bowls by using slump molds. The ceramic bowls will be available for purchase in the spring of 2018. WES second grade students are so eager to be a part of such a worthy charity!
