Hopping into Spring Break

Students work on bunny crafts

How do you spend the last day of school before spring break? By building bunny hutches of course! Third grade students at Watauga used their engineering and problem solving skills to build bunny hutches from nothing more than jelly beans and toothpicks. The miniature hutches were homes for Peep bunnies. The designs were diverse and creative. Students reviewed geometry concepts as they discussed faces, edges, vertices and three dimensional solids and then created two dimensional drawings just like real engineers. The best part of the activity was eating the candies when all designs were complete! What a great way to hop into spring break!
