On Thursday, November 10, Watauga Elementary School proudly honored our nation’s heroes, our veterans. Third grade students donned patriotic clothing in red, white, and blue. Some even wore military costumes or costumes that resembled famous Americans and symbols like Uncle Sam, the Statue of Liberty, and Betsy Ross. The program was packed with patriotic songs, poems, rhythm instrument routines, and flag routines. An honor guard presented and retired colors per military protocol. All in attendance were moved by a film documentary created by one of Watauga’s students that highlighted her family’s experience with deployment. We are so grateful to all our military servicemen and women as well as their families for keeping us safe both day and night.
